James Knittle

Traveler is a form that has been alive in my sketches for some time. For whatever reason, it was always passed over as I decided to create a different form. Interestingly, this form was always there in my thoughts, influencing the work that was made as a result of not creating this piece.

I typically build a sculpture from a small model. I start with collections of wood blocks, plug in my hot-glue gun, and playfully put together a form. Sometimes I grab the perfect combination of blocks and the sculpture seemingly builds itself, and other times the blocks get thrown back into the scrap bin. Later, I may snap pieces off my discarded models to fit onto new ones.

Lynne Bond has lived in Charlotte, Vermont, for the past thirty-five years, and is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Vermont. Her work and art explore relationships between individual identity and community, including their boundaries and adaptations to one another.
