Dudley H. Davis Center

The Dudley H. Davis Center is UVM’s student center, housing a variety of student services. It also displays artwork on all four floors of the building. In addition to individual student art submissions the Davis Center is proud to present a variety of exhibits throughout the school year. Hours: Open every day, hours vary according to semester.

March 18-April 12, 2013
Opening Reception: Wednesday, March 20, 5-7PM

“ALIVE” is a collaborative art exhibit. This exhibit, in the Livak Fireplace Lounge and Gallery (4th floor), showcases expressive 8″x8″ pieces of art on plywood in various mediums by student, community, and staff/faculty artists, all answering the prompt: “What makes you feel alive?”

In honor of Earth Day, “Created by eARThlings, Inspired by EARTH” in the 4th floor Livak Fireplace Lounge, celebrates the planet we live on! Environmental art is a global movement that seeks to use art to heal our ecosystems and communities.

This collection of environmental art featuring diverse works by professional, student, and UVM faculty artists, intends to engage and educate the community to welcome the movement towards a sustainable future on our beautiful Earth.

Directions:

Driving to the Davis Center (and adjacent Jeffords parking lot)

From I-89: Take Exit 14 W into Burlington. Head west on Williston Road (US-2). After the second light in the jug handle, “exit” by veering right onto Beaumont Avenue (as you exit the wind turbine will be on your right and the UVM hedge will be on your left). Come up Beaumont Ave. and turn left into a parking lot (the Jeffords lot). You’ll see the Davis Center to the west.

From Route 7 North: Follow Shelburne Road/Route 7 into Burlington. At rotary, bear right onto South Willard Street/Route 7. Travel less than one mile to the intersection with Main Street (US-2); turn right onto Main Street. Head uphill past the University Green until you reach Spear Street on your right; turn right onto Spear Street. Take an immediate left around the jughandle and take a left at the light onto Williston Rd. (US-2). After the second light in the jug handle, “exit” by veering right onto Beaumont Avenue (as you exit the wind turbine will be on your right and the UVM hedge will be on your left). Come up Beaumont Ave. and turn left into a parking lot (the Jeffords lot). You’ll see the Davis Center to the west.
