STATEMENT

“I find comfort in contemplating the sunflowers”–Vincent Van Gogh

Sunflowers bloom, grown and turn toward the sun…we all need a little sunshine in our lives. I am on my own journey to bloom, grow and reach for the sun myself. I want to create both beauty and a sense of
calm and comfort. I like scenes from Vermont as well as my other favorite places and images that will speak to people and make them smile. I look at the world around me and wonder what lines need to be
carved, which ones left blank and what will be inked/not inked! How do I construct my vision and environment so I can share what I see with others and help them appreciate the beauty of our world? Then you bring your emotions, experiences and feelings to it and we get to share a moment!

BIO

I graduated from Bates College, Lewiston, Maine, in the first graduating class of Art majors in 1973. I later earned an MA in Early Childhood Special Education and was able to be creative with young children throughout my 40-year career in central Vermont. Having dabbled with the arts for years and taking workshops (watercolors/acrylics, basket weaving, silk painting & stenciling), during COVID Fall 2021, I
look an online printmaking course through the Community College of Vermont. I loved it so much I took the in-person one in summer 2022 and used a printing press. I was hooked! I continued to practice on my own, but in Fall 2022, I connected with a local printmaker and have been going to her studio weekly to work and use her press. I currently have work at Dappled Light Gallery and on my own website.
