Waters: &#8220;Native Expressions&#8221;<br \/>\nMay 5-July 31, 2016<\/h2>\n<p>A native of Central Vermont, Julie Waters has lived and worked in the Burlington area for over thirty years. She began painting in her late thirties and, after just one year, was awarded a fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson. She has returned to the center several times for intensive work periods, where she was exposed to hundreds of artists and visiting critics from all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>Julie has worked out of her Howard Space studio in Burlington&#8217;s South End Arts District for over 15 years and was an early organizer of the annual South End Art Hop. She recently moved from Burlington to Williston, where she maintains a second studio. Her work includes both plein air and studio paintings with a variety of subjects including landscape, florals, figures and architecture. Although she works primarily in oil, she is also fluent in pastels, India ink and acrylic.<\/p>\n<p>Julie is a member of several art organizations and recently joined the board of the Bryan Memorial\u00a0Gallery in Jeffersonville. Her work is currently on view at Artists\u2019 Mediums in Williston, the People&#8217;s United Bank in Burlington, the Bryan Memorial\u00a0Gallery in Jeffersonville, and the SEABA Gallery in Burlington. She also welcomes visitors to her Burlington studio by appointment.
