Meet the artists at the closing reception for “Connection: The Art of Coming Together” at the Vermont Arts Council Gallery<\/a>. “Connection” presents a survey of contemporary Vermont art organized by artist networks rather than aesthetics or media. As an experiment, curator Ric Kasini Kadour, editor and publisher of Vermont Art Guide<\/em>, asked four artists or art professionals from different corners of the state to submit the name of an artist they feel is part of their community or network. He then went to those people and so on until he had enough people to fill the exhibition. An exhibition-in-print of the show appears in Vermont Art Guide<\/em> #5<\/a>.<\/p>\n Also on view, Nick Neddo’s “Primeval Pigments: Original Artwork from Wildcrafted Media” opens at the Governor’s Gallery<\/a>. Landscape artist Craig Mooney is in a “Green Mountain State of Mind” at the Vermont Supreme Court Gallery<\/a>.\u00a0Also, check out the opening of “Show 21” at The Front<\/a>, which features the latest works by\u00a0gallery\u2019s Vermont-based contemporary artists, as well as multimedia guest artist Alisa Dworsky<\/p>\n Learn more at Montpelier Alive’s Art Walk\u00a0WEBSITE<\/a>.<\/p>\n First Friday Art is a monthly, community-wide event where dozens of art venues across Burlington host openings, exhibitions, and happenings. The event is free and open to anyone. Most venues are open from 5-8PM, but some are\u00a0open earlier or later. Art Map Burlington<\/a><\/em> is the official guide to First Friday Art, pick up your copy around town.<\/p>\n The Winners Circle Exhibit of the 25th Annual South End Art Hop Original Juried Show opens at SEABA Gallery<\/a>, including the works of the three winners selected by this year’s juror, Asya Ginsberg, and the People’s Choice Award Winner. Get in the Halloween spirit at S.P.A.C.E. Gallery<\/a>‘s “Dark Matter”, a place to “engage in dialogs that aren’t always given a venue to be spoken aloud.” Frog Hollow<\/a> welcomes the Milton Artists’ Guild<\/a>‘s “Off the Wall” show, with work by more than 20 Guild members. And the Karma Bird House Gallery<\/a> presents an exhibition (image) and silent auction of work from the Steamroller Printmaking Workshop. All proceeds benefit art programming at the King Street Center.<\/p>\n Find out what else is going on during Burlington’s First Friday Art at Art Map Burlington<\/em>‘s\u00a0WEBSITE<\/a>.<\/p>\n Brattleboro\u2019s monthly First Friday celebration of the arts offers 30 to 40 exhibit openings at galleries, eateries, and other venues in the downtown and a few satellite locations nearby. Many offer meet-the-artist receptions, some with refreshments, and a few present live music. Visit the Walk website<\/a> for a map and complete listings with examples of the art on display as well as feature articles for the month; a printed version of the Walk guide is available at all venues, a number of other downtown locations, the I-91 Welcome Center, and many local lodging options. Official Walk hours are 5:30 to 8:30, but many venues are open earlier, and a few remain open later.
