The Putney Craft Tour traditionally takes place on the long Thanksgiving weekend (in 2017: November 24, 25 and 26, 10AM-5PM) and gives shoppers, visitors and collectors another reason to be thankful. Local community, tour goers, and tourists are invited to celebrate the love of food in addition to the love of cultural activities during Putney Craft Tour\u2019s Craft, Culinary and Performance Weekend. Since 2013, the Putney Craft Tour, Next Stage Arts Project and Sandglass Theatre have joined forces to present and publicize a special Thanksgiving Weekend of Arts. The tour invites area restaurants to participate by creating a Putney Craft Tour lunch or dinner “special”. Restaurants participating include: JD McCliment\u2019s Pub, Katy\u2019s Great Food Restaurant, Putney Diner, The Gleanery, Putney Food Coop, Putney General Store and the Four Columns Artisan Restaurant.<\/p>\n

Visitors can visit the studios during the day, enjoy Putney Craft Tour specials at participating restaurants and enjoy a performance at night.<\/p>\n

Putney is a wonderful craft rich area and the tour is an opportunity to meet the 24 working artists and buy that special one-of-a-kind gift direct from the artist who made it. Visitors can visit glass blowers, potters, jewelers, weavers, woodworkers, as well as artisan cheese makers, a custom bicycle maker, winemakers, encaustic artists, farm art artists, and one artist who makes drums, rattles, lidded containers, masks and more from gourds. Part of the fun is meandering through the beautiful Vermont countryside, following the map to find these prominent craftspeople and view the works where they are conceived and created.<\/p>\n

For the fourth year in a row, the Vermont Chamber of Commerce has named the annual Putney Craft Tour as a Top Ten Winter Event (2017\/18). The tour has also been approved as a Vermont Arts Council 2017 event. Also of note, the tour is the oldest continuing craft studio tour in North America.<\/p>\n

Start your tour at The Gleanery Restaurant, 133 Main Street, Putney (MAP<\/a>) for information, maps, and a preview exhibition of the artisans\u2019 works.<\/p>\n
