BigTown Vergennes presents outsider Vermont artist Rick Skogsberg’s mixed-media installation, Can’t Lose Shoes<\/em>. The installation features over two hundred pairs of his painted shoes, alongside his more recent two-dimensional painted ceramic and metal plates.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, March 15, 6PM, Gregg Blasdel, an authority in outsider art, is in the gallery to discuss the topic of collecting in the realm of the self-taught artist.<\/p>\n

BigTown Gallery’s blog features a statement from Charles Russell in response to Skogsberg’s work. Russell is Professor and Associate Director, Rutgers University Institute on Ethnicity, Culture, and the Modern Experience; Director of Rutgers University’s American Studies Program; and author of many texts, including Groundwater: A Century of Art by Self-Taught and Outsider Artists<\/em>).
