Laurie Jane Bepler
Laurie Jane Bepler STATEMENT Starting at an early age when my grandmother Bradley gave me a camera, I took pictures of the things that I loved. At first it was pictures of my brother and sister, our pet turtle, and the plants around us. People and the natural world and their relationship, continue to fascinate and inspire me, as do historic buildings and objects; shapes, angles, colors and shadows. Almost anything can catch my eye. Photography has been a constant in my life and allows me to express my interest in all the things that I love. It is the thread that binds my life together. BIO Reflecting my diverse interests, I attended five colleges before completing my degree at age thirty. I received a Liberal Arts degree with a concentration in Ethno-botany from Vermont College. I have had several solo shows in both Vermont and Connecticut and have participated in numerous local shows. Group exhibitions in Vermont include: Stone Valley Arts at Fox Hill in Poultney, The Birds of Vermont Museum in Huntington, the Tinmouth Community Center, The Old Firehouse in Tinmouth, and the McClure Library in Pittsford. Prior to that, I participated in shows in Connecticut including those at the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, the Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan, the Norwalk Camera Club, the Wilton Arts Council and local libraries and nature centers.
