Stephen Schaub photographs featured
at X Edition in Singapore
September 6-9, 2018

Pawlet photographer Stephen Schaub is being specially featured at X Edition 2018 in Singapore, September 6-9, 2018. Schaub is a VIP guest speaker, highlighted exhibitor, and the only American artist at the event.

“I’m delighted to be a featured artist at this exciting event,” said Schaub. “For artists, collectors, and lovers of photographic art, this event will represent a monumental opportunity to present our works, our ideas…and talk about the future of our art form. And I, as usual, have a lot to say on that topic… so I’m looking forward to it!”

Schaub’s most recent series, “Motion Pictures”, a monumental series of figures in both land- and cityscapes are on display at the fair. Schaub describes these panoramic works as “in-camera collage on film”, and range from seven to fourteen feet in length. All featured works are printed on handmade papers and wood veneer.

X Edition coincides with Singapore’s Formula One Grand Prix race, and is sponsored by Grand Prix, as well as the Regent Singapore, the Singapore Tourism Board, T Singapore–The New York Times Style Magazine, among others.

Stephen Schaub’s works have been described as “art dreaming about itself”. In them, rather than experiencing a literal place or a linear story, the viewer encounters something akin to the fragmentation of an emotional memory–or the illogic of a dream. Depicting scenes of unresolved narrative, the images seem to have been subjected to the vagaries of perception and the passage of time.

In his Pawlet studio, Schaub combines monumentality of scale with light-sensitive techniques and the presentation of works on paper and other rare materials, to create each singular work of art.
