The Bundy Modern,
a Great Roadtrip Destination

bundy-modern-gallery

Summer is a beautiful time to drive Route 100. Just south of Waitsfield Village, a quick turn and drive down a nondescript dirt road will take you up a hill to the gorgeous grounds of The Bundy Modern Gallery.

Sculptures dot the pond that wraps around a recently renovated, mid-century modern gem. With all structural elements visible–walls of glass, brick parapets, massive wooden beams and Vermont slate floors–The Bundy Modern is spectacular in true International style. Open only on weekend afternoons, the gallery is a great roadtrip destination. The gallery is hosting two exhibitions this summer.

Billy Brauer: 50-Year Retrospective
July 30-September 5, 2016

See the artist’s paintings, etchings, and lithographs from the 1960s through today. Brauer’s paintings are highly sensual and moody, using intense colors and a finely tuned drawing ability to beautifully render women in narrative, yet mysterious, scenes. In an interview with the Sunday Times Argus, Brauer said, “I love the concept of mystery. I like the idea that something is taking place off the picture plane.”
