Collect This: Discover

In each issue of Vermont Art Guide, we offer a selection of art that we think would make a worthy addition to anyone’s collection of art. Sometimes, we recommend a piece because the artist has made a name of themselves and in doing so, made a significant contribution to the history of Vermont art. Other times, we recommend a work of art because we think it is brilliant or beautiful. The publication has absolutely no stake in the sale of these works. We simply think you should buy art and enjoy it.

Discover
by Josh Axelrod
in Roxbury

“I seek the poetry of our landscape; the imagery I hope to convey. The sacred moments where light, sound, color and texture harmonize make me smile,” writes Roxbury photographer Josh Axelrod. Trained at Rocky Mountain School of Photography, he exhibits nationwide and in galleries and festivals throughout Vermont. In black & white, sepia, or color, his images are full of lush, romantic moments that celebrate the land and sometimes man’s place in. This is what we love about Discover, its timeless quality, the entropy of the barn, the ruts worn into the road by the hard working farmer. Prices range from $30 to $1500 depending on the size and frame. Art may be purchased via the artist’s website, joshaxelrod.com.
