Plein Air Paint the Common
Saturday, August 19, 2017, 10AM-1PM
The 2nd Annual Vermont Plein Air Paint the Common in Craftsbury, produced in collaboration with Plein Air Northeast Kingdom, is a way to enjoy socializing with fellow artists while creating a version of the stunning scenery of the Craftsbury Common town green. A live Craftsbury Farmers’ Market will be in progress, setting the stage for a quintessential Vermont subject. Here’s an opportunity to create a rendition of one of Vermont’s most beautiful and iconic town greens while the farmers’ market is in progress. All artists, professional, amateur or student are welcome to participate. Come alone and join other artists or bring artist friends and/or students.
En plein air painting in Vermont is alive, well and thriving. Vermont is the perfect subject for en plein air painting with its pastoral landscape, rolling hills, mountains, gentle and not-so-gentle waterways, eclectic and diverse architecture towns and cities and picture postcard, white picket fence villages. Craftsbury is a great example of beautiful working landscapes and a stunning green on Craftsbury Common.
A juried art exhibit “Art Outside the Walls–en Plein Air” will showcase artwork produced at this paint-out as well as several others occurring around the Northeast Kingdom. The exhibit, reception and awards will be professionally hosted at the MAC Center for the Arts in Newport on September 8, 2017. Details for eligibility for exhibit are located at Plein Air Northeast Kingdom. Artists are encouraged to be present.
Registration is not required.
