Can’t Lose Shoes: Rick Skogsberg

BigTown Vergennes presents outsider Vermont artist Rick Skogsberg’s mixed-media installation, Can’t Lose Shoes. The installation features over two hundred pairs of his painted shoes, alongside his more recent two-dimensional painted ceramic and metal plates.
On Thursday, March 15, 6PM, Gregg Blasdel, an authority in outsider art, is in the gallery to discuss the topic of collecting in the realm of the self-taught artist.
BigTown Gallery’s blog features a statement from Charles Russell in response to Skogsberg’s work. Russell is Professor and Associate Director, Rutgers University Institute on Ethnicity, Culture, and the Modern Experience; Director of Rutgers University’s American Studies Program; and author of many texts, including Groundwater: A Century of Art by Self-Taught and Outsider Artists).
