Helen Day Art Center (HDAC) has been called one of the best places to see art in Vermont. Located on School Street in Stowe, on the second floor of an 1856 Greek Revival building that once housed Stowe High School, HDAC sports three galleries. The East Gallery showcases the work of emerging artists from Vermont, New England and the Hudson Valley corridor of New York. The two other galleries show a variety of work: from cutting edge contemporary to student shows.
Recent exhibitions have featured contemporary photography, sculpture, painting, mixed media and installation artwork from Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, New England, Canada, China, Mexico, and from the perspective of journalists, muralists, dissidents, environmentalists, travelers, cartoonists, and Native American artists.
