Dusty Boynton’s solo exhibition in the East Gallery features large-scale paintings, works on paper, and structured reliefs.
Dusty Boynton’s work is humorous, aggresive, sad, and joyful. But most of all it is emotive. Her painting, “Green Skirt”, is incredibly heart wrenching – looking into the child’s smeared eyes with her tossled hair and pink frown creates both a feeling of love and compassion, overwhelming the viewer with emotion in front of this larger-than-life portrait.
Boynton’s love for painting is ever-present. Lines, shapes, and colors combine to create aesthetically gorgeous images. Her solo exhibition represents a beautiful selection of her work from paintings to works on paper to structured reliefs. If possible, her cutout figures come to life even more than her canvases. Packed with personality, the figures exist between carefree childlike drawings and psychosomatic studies. Her portraits balance the line between opposing emotions, causing a visceral response in the viewer. Dusty Boynton is an established artist exhibiting her work almost exclusively in New York City, and is represented exclusively by Denise Bibro Fine Art in NYC . She has exhibitied her work nationally and internationally. Her work has been reviewed in ARTnews several times, along with other established publications like Art in America and The New York Times.
