Tessa Holmes is a seventh-generation Vermonter who has been painting and producing art for the past twenty years. She graduated with a degree in photography and currently take pictures professionally as a wedding/portrait photographer.Her work has been shown all over the Burlington area in small businesses and local art celebrations like the South End Art Hop and Art’s Alive Festival of Fine Art. She has also traveled a great deal, taken photographs and attended a couple of art residencies like Vermont Studio Center. Tessa now works full time out of her studio in Burlington and takes occasional classes at Burlington City Arts or CCV.
“Lately, I am inspired most by nature and color. Being a professional photographer, I always carry a camera with me and am constantly looking for an object or composition that I want to document. I paint directly from these photographs with water-based oils onto canvas. The majority of the paintings are done using a pallet knife to get thick textured and an impressionistic style. I like rich vibrant color and try to manifest beauty in all I create.”
