
26th Annual South End Art Hop
in Burlington’s South End Arts District
September 7-9, 2018
2018 marks the twenty-sixth year of the South End Art Hop, the largest event of its kind in Vermont, attracting more than 30,000 visitors who come to the Pine Street corridor in the South End Arts District to experience visual art, performance art, fashion, art in the making, art for sale, and general camaraderie. Over 500 artists participate and their art can be seen in artist studios, galleries, exhibition sites, and businesses that are refit to display art.

Outdoor Sculpture at the 26th Annual South End Art Hop

Along with exhibitions, musical performances, fashion, live demonstrations, and artist markets, the 26th Annual South End Art Hop in Burlington also features outdoor sculpture sprinkled among the venues. The Outdoor Sculpture Juried Show, sponsored by Peregrine Design/Build, features 11 new sculptures. Juror Kathleen Vance is also acting as a judge and will award three cash prizes for best sculpture. Artists include Tyler Vendituoli, Gerald Stoner, Jake Pill, John Matusz, Lydia Kern, and Carley Tillinghast. The new work was installed in August and will be on view through the Art Hop (September 7-9) to the end of September. In addition to work made for this year’s Art Hop, there are several permanent installations that are iconic of the South End, such as Bren Alvarez’ File Under So. Co.,Waiting For… (a tower of filing cabinets) on Flynn Avenue and Lars Fisk’s Slum Ball in front of the Innovation Center on Lakeside Avenue.
