An exhibition of new works by Bill Brauer and Margit J. Fureder
Brauer’s sensual figurative paintings render women in narrative yet mysterious scenes. Using intense colors and finely tuned drawing skill in his paintings, Brauer references metaphysical and mythological imagery. His focus on surface and light creates a sense of ambiguity in space and time.
Fureder explores themes of femininity, power and vitality in captured moments. Primarily inspired by images from Austrian television and film, these stolen glances are clear and visible, which the eye normally doesn’t see. In these glimpses, one can hear and feel a gesture; one can step in and out of life.
A gallery talk will be given by Rachel Moore, Fulbright Fellow and Assistant Director at Helen Day Art Center. Music will be provided by Emily Lanxner Steel Drum Duo, and catering will be provided by Susanna’s Catering.
